Thursday Learning Seminars with Achvat Amim's February 2021 Cohort
Dates: February 18, 2021 - July 4, 2021
Participatory Learning Process.
No two learning processes are the same... In learning sessions, lectures, and participatory activities, we engage with the Israeli-Palestinian region, based on the core value of self-determination for all peoples. Through a critical educational process, we explore history, identity, politics, economics, spirituality and examine the interconnections between them. We build shared knowledge and understanding of the complex reality on the ground and envision our role in the struggle for a society rooted in justice and equality. Achvat Amim approaches learning from a place rooted in identity, and much of the learning is through a Jewish lens. Achvat Amim engages with Jewish history, thought, and culture from a multitude of perspectives as we build a diverse learning community and shared understandings.
A taste of some previous learning days:
Jewishness, Collective Identity, and Power Relations

Activist Skills Building
Gaza Learning Day: Border Tour, Siege, Resource Distribution, and Advocacy
Policing, Law Enforcement, and the Deadly Exchange

Queerness, Feminism, & Gender
The group will have regular trips, seminars, and outdoor experiences throughout the region. We will run down sand dunes in the Negev desert, meet refugees in the West Bank, discuss politics with members of the urban kibbutz movement near Haifa and see the reality on the ground in Hebron. These trips are built as part of the participatory learning process, and so, in the nature of Achvat Amim-- we don't know yet what our next trip will look like! These trips are built along with our participants to meet their needs educationally, spiritually, and adventurously.
Thursday Learning Seminars Cost
The full cost of participation is $1800. This includes guest speakers, transportation, materials, facilitation, and overnight trips.
To help subsidise the cost of joining the learning group, Achvat Amim resources participants in crowdfunding and letter writing. Limited scholarships are available.
Achvat Amim & COVID-19.
We are vigilantly monitoring ongoing developments and will continue to be in active conversation with participants and partners around health regulations and the safety and needs of all involved. Achvat Amim abides by mandated guidelines at all times and fellowship programming will shift in relationship to the changing reality on the ground.
